Starting from Scratch Talk: Tips for new gardeners. Learn how to start a garden at 1:30 pm (capacity 20)
Meet the Gardeners: Our volunteer gardeners will be in the garden to talk about the garden, how we compost, and provide advice on what you can do at home
Children’s Activities: Storytime, What seed grows what? – time to be confirmed
Harvest: see and sample what’s grown in the garden

Guided Tours

All programs are drop-in. Volunteers are stationed throughout the garden all day to answer any questions. Storytime will be scheduled (pending). Starting from Scratch is planned to be at 1:30 pm and last an hour (Max participation 20)

Significance to Calgary

For over 110 years, the Calgary Horticultural Society has been bring the community together to share knowledge on how to successfully garden in Calgary’s unique climate. The office is in a terracotta-coloured stucco house. The yard has been transformed into teaching and demonstration gardens. The gardens are filled with fruiting trees and shrubs, perennial plants suited to varied growing conditions (including a native plants) and raised vegetable beds. The house is on a standard city lot and shows visitors options for creating a garden oasis their own yards.
